Getting Started with ARC1

Course Format:
This course will take the form of short presentations followed by
practical sessions. The course materials will be provided on the HPC
wiki for open access.

Description:
The course is aimed at researchers intending to use the Arc1 facility.
The course is designed for programmers and non-programmers alike, with
limited knowledge of using the available facilities. However, there is
a major session dedicated to program compilation.

Prerequisites:
Attendees should have some experience of the Unix operating system.
Minimal prgramming experience is required.

Content:
– Background and overview available Arc1 resources
– Basic use of the system
-File transfer
-editors
-environment
-Introduction to the software environment
– Using Grid Engine for:
– batch jobs
– interactive sessions
– task arrays
– Parallel job submission
